We will meet at the ABQ Running Shop, then head to a nearby park.
Clinic hosts are Michael Sandler and Jessica Lee of RunBare (www.runbare.com), authors of best-seller Barefoot Running: How To Run Light And Free By Getting In Touch With The Earth (www.runbare.com/book/). Michael Sandler of RunBare discovered barefoot running after enduring a life-threatening accident in 2006 which left him with a titanium femur and hip and a one inch leg length discrepancy. He was told he would never run again. Defying all odds, within 6 months Michael was running barefoot 10-20 miles per day, pain and injury-free. Michael and Jessica are dedicated to educating and informing people of the benefits and joys of barefoot running.
Learn hands-on how barefoot running can help you run lighter, faster and more injury-free than you’ve ever imagined. Whether you’re in Vibrams, barefoot, or a complete tenderfoot, this clinic will help you become a better runner, with effortless form to carry you through the miles.
Whether you’re a recreational runner, a professional athlete or just getting into the sport, you’ll walk away from this clinic with a new profound approach to running light, happy and injury-free. The number one goal above all is to have fun. It’s never too late to start working on your form, or get back into the game. Training barefoot helps you strengthen your feet and find your own natural, impact-free stride whether you want to run in or out of a shoe. This keeps you healthy, allows you to run when you thought you couldn’t (bad knees, hips, feet, plantar fasciitis, etc) and helps you become the lightest, most efficient runner you can be. This popular session will be informative, inspiring and fun!
The clinic will be held outdoors, so check the weather forecast, bring your sunscreen, and dress appropriately. Please bring snacks and water if needed.
Topics:
· The keys to running light and free like a kid again

Format:
We’ll start by reviewing the goals of barefoot running and then share individual goals, whether it’s running to heal an old knee injury or simply to feel more connected to the earth. Then we’ll discuss the basics of barefoot running (including do’s, don’ts and how to transition). Next, we’ll practice some barefoot warmup drills followed by proper form work. We’ll assess each runner’s form and begin to look at simple changes to help the body move more naturally and efficiently. Altogether, we’ll run at most about a 1/4 mile on focusing on form over distance.
Please note: If for some reason the weather does not cooperate, we will email and call informing you of the cancellation and your refund.
